Biography

Deniz Bagdas, DVM, PhD, is a research scientist in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine.

After Dr. Bagdas received her DVM, she earned her PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology. During her PhD and post-doctoral career, she has had an extensive training in behavioral neuroscience and neuropharmacology. Her interests are focused on the role of neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in addiction as well as pain and inflammation. Currently, she has been investigating comorbidity of chronic pain and nicotine addiction. Her research also includes the impact of flavors on nicotine intake with a focus on behaviors related to nicotine addiction in both adult and adolescence.
