Introducing the school’s new newsletter, Linking Science & Society.

Dear YSPH Community,

I am thrilled to introduce the inaugural newsletter for our newly independent school, "Yale School of Public Health: Linking Science & Society!” This publication will be released every two months to connect our global YSPH community and highlight our school’s exceptional achievements.

This first issue marks a particularly significant moment in our nearly 110-year history. On October 17th, we unveiled our first-ever school-wide strategic plan at the State of the School event. The strategic plan has been shaped by the collective input of our community. It reflects both the historical strengths and the future-focused aspirations of the school. It will guide our priorities and initiatives for the next five years, reaffirming our commitment to strengthening the science, education, and practice of public health. We are proud to share a link to this plan, in the newsletter below.

We have declared that our mission is to “educate and equip the best public health scientists, practitioners, and leaders to develop systems-level solutions for a healthier society.” To achieve this, we will pursue our work with not just methodological rigor, but also deep community partnerships, entrepreneurial translational models, groundbreaking models of data equity, and novel communication strategies – like this very newsletter – that improve access to accurate information and to bolster public trust in science.

I hope you enjoy reading about our collective accomplishments and plans.

And I of course welcome your feedback as we launch this next era for not just our newsletter, but also for our school.

I am so proud that together, we are shaping the future of public health.

Warmly,

Megan L. Ranney, MD, MPH
Dean, Yale School of Public Health
