Campus marks 2nd annual Elihu Day

November 01, 2012

“Thank you for helping us achieve our dreams” was the note one current student wrote to an Alumni Fund donor today during the 2nd annual Elihu Day on November 1. The School of Medicine and School of Public Health were two of seven locations on campus where students could stop by to celebrate and thank donors to the university.

Elihu Yale made history 294 years ago when he donated nine bales of goods, some books, and a portrait of King George I to the Connecticut colony's fledgling collegiate school. By way of thanks, the trustees named the school in his honor.

Now members of the Yale community have special opportunities to thank—or to "Elihu"—current donors who continue this tradition of giving.
