Biography
Ryan Duong Nguyen is an MD-PhD student from Belleville, New Jersey. He earned a B.S. in Biotechnology, with minors in Biochemistry and Business Administration, from Rutgers University - New Brunswick. As an undergraduate, he worked in Dr. Monica Driscoll’s lab studying exophers, large neuronal vesicle extrusions, in the C. elegans model organism. His honors senior thesis investigated the role of lipid regulation and membrane dynamics in exophergenesis.
After graduating in 2025, Ryan joined the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases as an NIH Postbaccalaureate Research Fellow. He worked in Dr. Ursula Buchholz’s lab enhancing and evaluating the efficacy of live-attenuated vaccines for pediatric respiratory viruses.
At Yale, Ryan plans to integrate his interests of regenerative medicine and immunology to improve cardiac repair outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease.
