About

Biography

Nathaniel received his B.S. in Chemistry magna cum laude from the George Washington University (GWU) in 2017. As an undergraduate with Dr. Ioannis Eleftherianos and Dr. Douglas Nixon, he studied neuro-immune interactions influencing pain sensitization in Drosophila. As postgraduate research associate at GWU's Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Tropical Medicine he worked on identifying markers of T-cells latently infected with HIV-1 in addition to studying a novel mechanism of HIV-1 mediated immune evasion. In 2018, he enrolled in the Yale MD/PhD program and performed his PhD studies in Immunology with Ruslan Medzhitov, PhD. Using mouse models, he investigated mechanisms driving allergen avoidance and anaphylaxis in food allergy. His current interests are in mast cell biology, mucosal immunology, and neuro-immune interactions.
