Biography
Anyara Rodriguez is an MD-PhD student from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She completed her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience at the University of Pennsylvania in 2022, where she also studied Political Science and minored in Chemistry. As an undergraduate, she conducted research in the laboratory of Dr. Matthew Kayser, investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying sleep and neurodegeneration using Drosophila melanogaster. Following graduation, she was awarded a Fulbright Research Fellowship and joined the lab of Dr. Martha Merrow at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, where she studied human sleep and circadian rhythms.
Motivated by her interest in sleep biology, as well as her love for fruit flies, Anyara returned to the Kayser Lab in the fall of 2023 to investigate how peripheral metabolic dysfunction impacts sleep. At Yale, she is particularly interested in exploring the intersection of circadian biology, metabolism, and neurodegeneration.
