Over 150 Attend Yale Child Study Center In-house Open House

October 03, 2023

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, approximately 165 members of the Yale Child Study Center (YCSC) community came together between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. to celebrate and recognize the diversity and broad expertise across the varied missions of the center.

Attendees learned about and explored over 40 individual clinical, community, policy, research, and model development teams represented from across the department. Along with shared knowledge, there were refreshments enjoyed and impressive raffles offered.

Organized by the department’s network & outreach committee, this was the first time the event had been held since pre-pandemic. Led by Sandi Gossart-Walker, the committee consists of faculty, staff, and trainees including Craig Bailey, Diana Bok, Erin Brough, Kari Cifarelli, Heidi Grantz, Bethany Kleine, Lesley Kurachi Ube, Alison Magnotti, Crista Marchesseault, Belmana Ponjevic, Anne Santello, Denis Sukhodolsky, and Erin Warnick.

“It was great seeing all YCSC’s work in one place. The community coming together in this way was very warm and welcoming,” commented YCSC staff member Famatta Gibson, who serves as a project coordinator for the Center for Emotional Intelligence SELOC Project.

An incredible amount of teamwork was involved to make this event a success – especially among a sub-committee of dedicated group members who came together weekly leading up to the event to package candy, create beautiful baskets for the raffle, cut raffle tickets, and more. Raffle prizes were as follows, with each winner noted.

  • Arethusa Dairy gift card basket: Kathryn Rodrigues
  • Campus Customs gift card basket: Taryn Anderson
  • Harvest gift card basket: Nikki Elbertson
  • Insomnia Cookie gift card basket: Wan-Ling Tseng
  • Super Sandwich gift card basket: Carolina Parrott
  • Super Sandwich gift card basket: Doris Chen
  • Super Sandwich gift card basket: Gitta Selva
  • Super Sandwich gift card basket: Taylor Clark

It was wonderful to see everyone in person and to see what everyone is up to. I was so inspired and energized that I left with two potential opportunities for collaborations.
