Biography

Sumeyra N. Tayfur is a clinical psychologist and currently a Postdoctoral Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. She serves as an Early Detection and Assessment Coordinator (EDAC) for the STEP program, overseeing the Southwest region of Connecticut. She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, UK, and completed her undergraduate degree at Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey. She also holds an M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology. Over the past ten years, she has actively collaborated with interdisciplinary teams, worked on different research projects and published peer-reviewed articles mainly utilizing quantitative methods. Clinically, she has worked with adolescents, young adults, and their families in diverse clinical, school and community settings, focusing on the treatment and assessment of various mental health conditions. Dr. Tayfur is broadly interested in early risk and protective factors in youth’s life trajectories and outcomes emphasizing the effectiveness and mechanisms of preventive and early intervention strategies.
