Dr. Liu is an expert in viral hepatitis, liver cancer immunotherapy, graft-versus-host disease, and cancer epigenetics. He currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Pathology and Chief of Pathology at Yale New Haven Hospital. He is also Anthony N. Brady Professor of Pathology. After obtaining his medical degree at Tong Liao Medical College and completing his postgraduate training at Peking Union Medical College in China, Dr. Liu received his PhD in pathology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his residency in anatomical and clinical pathology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, followed by an oncological pathology fellowship at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital. Dr. Pham obtained her B.S degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, M.S degree in Applied Biosciences from the University of Arizona, and Ph.D degree in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Pharmacology and Therapeutics from the University of Florida. After completing a doctoral study in brain cancer, she received her postdoctoral training from Prof. Chen Liu, MD, PhD, Chair of Yale Pathology Department, an internationally renowned GI/liver pathologist and well-recognized investigator in viral hepatitis, liver cancer immunology, and cancer epigenetics. Lei's research interests primarily focus on cancer immunotherapies, particularly CAR-NK therapy, and the development of tumor vaccines. After obtaining his PhD degree at Jilin University, Lei went on his postdoc training at Yale.
