Alagpulinsa Laboratory (The AlagsLab)
The AlagsLab is an interdisciplinary research group dedicated to uncovering how the hematopoietic system connects human complex traits and diseases through shared genetic and molecular mechanisms. Our work centers on autoimmune diseases—particularly type 1 diabetes—and their relationship with cardiovascular disease and neurocognitive outcomes. We use these conditions as entry points to understand how genetic alterations in hematopoietic function shape multi-trait risk, resilience, and comorbidity.
We integrate molecular and statistical genetics, single-cell and multi-omics, immunobiology, pharmacology, bioengineering, and computational biology to dissect how hematopoietic mechanisms mediate disease intersection or antagonism. Our overarching goal is to translate genetic and regulatory discoveries into actionable biomarkers and therapeutic targets that advance precision medicine and inspire new avenues for drug discovery.
Equally central to our mission is training the next generation of scientists. We foster a rigorous, collaborative, and inclusive environment where curiosity and cross-disciplinary thinking thrive—turning fundamental insights into preclinical and translational advances that lay the groundwork for future therapies.
We come to the lab each morning not for routine, but for renewal — driven by curiosity, discipline, and empathy, we serve humanity through science, uncovering the principles that govern human biology and transforming them into knowledge that heals.
