Thank you to Dr. Mercy Adewale (Emergency Medicine) and Dr. Christine Sekggya-Wiltshire for leading the discussion at Global Health Night Out last Wednesday November 1st. Thank you to all of you who attended!

  • Thursday Nov 9th @ 12pm on zoom: Ebola 10 Years On - Reflections and Lessons Learned. December 2023 marks the 10-year anniversary of the emergence of Ebola in West Africa that caused a tragic epidemic with more than 10,000 deaths in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. Senior health leaders who responded to the epidemic will share their reflections on the weaknesses in healthcare, public health, and health financing that exacerbated the Ebola crisis in their countries, as well as lessons learned that can be or have already been applied to better respond to emerging infectious disease threats, build more resilient health systems, and improve health outcomes globally.   • The application platform is open for the Department of Internal Medicine’s Cross-Distinction Resident Academic Fund! Through this fund, residents will have the opportunity to apply for awards of up to $500 per year. This money is intended to cover costs associated with presenting your Distinction Pathway-related work at a local, regional, national, or international conference, or other academic activities related to your participation in the Distinction Pathway. All Distinction Pathway residents are encouraged to apply, however, preference will be given to PGY-3s and PGY-4s, as well as (in the future) residents who have not previously received an award from this fund.
