Biography
Dr. Sarrafpour is a board certified fellowship trained glaucoma specialist at the Yale Eye Center. He graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University where he was also inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He then completed medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Afterwards he completed his residency training at New York University and glaucoma fellowship at Yale University. Following his fellowship training, Dr. Sarrafpour joined the glaucoma faculty at Yale University and provides care in New Haven and Stratford.
Dr. Sarrafpour provides medical and surgical care for glaucoma as well as anterior segment issues including cataracts. He performs glaucoma laser procedures, anterior segment and cataract surgery including premium intraocular lens implants, micro invasive glaucoma surgeries including istent, goniotomy, trabeculotomy procedures, cyclophotocoagulation, etc.) as well as traditional glaucoma surgeries like glaucoma drainage implants and trabeculectomy. He has brought novel glaucoma techniques/surgeries to Yale including the OMNI procedure. Additionally, he has contributed to several textbook chapters including Shield's Textbook of Glaucoma (7th edition) and he has presented at numerous meetings including the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and at the Prism Eye Rounds (December 2020 https://youtu.be/YAYu9KfAdzc?t=3171).
Dr. Sarrafpour remains dedicated to patient care, resident and fellow education, and has published and presented at numerous meetings. His research interests include machine learning, imaging and glaucoma, resident and patient education, and minimally invasive procedures. His research efforts are conducted with the Yale Glaucoma Research Group.

Overview
Soshian Sarrafpour, MD, is a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist who sees patients with cataracts, glaucoma, and other anterior segment eye diseases.
As a medical school student, Dr. Sarrafpour chose his specialty after seeing how grateful patients were after visiting their ophthalmologist. “Nothing cheers me up more than seeing a returning patient,” he says. “I enjoy listening to patients speak about how their treatments have affected their lives—from improving their golf game to being able to appreciate how colorful the world is.”
When patients have eye disorders that cannot be cured, Dr. Sarrafpour tells them that researchers are constantly investigating how to improve treatments.
“No one should ever lose hope,” Dr. Sarrafpour says. “We never know which treatments may come up in the future,” he says.
His research interests cover machine learning, glaucoma imaging, and minimally invasive procedures.
