Biography

I have great interest in understanding the host pathogen interaction particularly the perspective of the hose defense system at the cellular level. I studied the transcriptional regulation of plasma cell differentiation for my honors project with Dr. Wong Won Fen in University of Malaya in 2016. During my PhD with Dr. Hamish McWilliam and Prof. Jose Villadangos, I employed multiple molecular biology and biochemistry techniques to understand the cellular trafficking of MHC-I related protein 1 (MR1), which is a molecules that presents bacterial riboflavin derived metabolites which then can be recognized and activates mucosal associated invariant T (MAIT) cells, an innate like T cells with invariant T cell receptor. Recently (July 2022), I am fortunate to be part of Foxman Lab in Department of Laboratory Medicine and study the innate immune response in airway epithelial cells during viral infection.
