Biography


Dr. Andy Beltrán was born in Guatemala and raised in Harlem, New York, where his diverse cultural experiences shaped his unique perspective. He is a graduate of S.U.N.Y. Upstate Medical University, where he completed his psychiatry residency and served as Chief Resident for two consecutive years. His academic journey began at New York University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, laying the foundation for his deep understanding of human behavior.

As an immigrant from Guatemala and a member of the vibrant Harlem community, Dr. Beltran brings a rich cultural awareness and a deep commitment to addressing healthcare disparities. Fluent in Spanish, he is a dedicated Spanish-speaking provider, which enhances his ability to connect with and deliver personalized care to diverse patient populations.

Dr. Beltran’s career is deeply focused on Health Equity, and he is dedicated to providing high-quality psychiatric services. He is an integral part of the Consult Liaison Psychiatry Department at Yale New Haven Hospital, where he extends his expertise to the Yale Center for Infectious Diseases and the Smilow Cancer Hospital Sickle Cell Program.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Beltran is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, contributing to both the academic and clinical landscapes. His commitment to community well-being is further exemplified by his leadership roles as Medical Director at Branford Community Counseling and the Hispanic Health Council’s Compassion Center in Hartford, where he actively shapes the mental health landscape.

As Chief Medical Officer of the Hispanic Health Council, Dr. Beltran is dedicated to improving healthcare outcomes for diverse populations. His multifaceted roles demonstrate his ability to navigate complex healthcare settings and make meaningful contributions to both individual patient care and community health initiatives.

Throughout his career, Dr. Beltran has been driven by a commitment to excellence, compassionate care, and a steadfast focus on addressing healthcare disparities.
