Yale Ob/Gyn is again among the top providers in this year's U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals for Obstetrics & Gynecology” listing.
In the 2024-25 ranking, Yale Ob/Gyn-Yale New Haven Hospital posted at #19 nationwide. In the previous cycle, the department and hospital ranked #4 – the highest of any Yale department or service.
“These numbers are significant. Nearly 5,000 hospitals are looked at for the annual listing, and to be placed anywhere in the top 20 is a great honor. I am immensely proud of our work and the care we have provided,” said Hugh Taylor, MD, chair and Anita O’Keeffe Young Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences and professor of molecular, cellular & developmental biology.
In the 2024-25 listing, Yale Ob/Gyn was also rated “High Performing” in gynecological cancer surgery for the first time.
“Various factors are reviewed for this designation, and we had several standouts, including an excellent rating in preventing outpatient procedural complications,” said Taylor.
While there are other ways to gauge a department’s success, Taylor acknowledges that the rankings continue to impact the overall reputation of the hospitals and Yale School of Medicine and influence patients' choice of care.
