Yale Neuroscience Postdoc Committee (YNPC)

Welcome to the YNPC!

The Yale Neuroscience Postdoc Committee is a passionate and devoted group of postdoctoral fellows and associate research scientists who are affiliated with the Yale Neuroscience Department. The committee members work together to support not only themselves but also their fellow postdocs within the department.

The YNPC provides a safe and supportive space for postdocs to voice any concerns or challenges they may be facing in their personal or professional lives. The committee members collaborate with the YNPC faculty mentors who can offer guidance and assistance to postdocs.

The YNPC is committed to sharing valuable resources and opportunities available to postdocs within the department. The committee aims to provide support and encouragement to postdocs in achieving their career goals and leading a fulfilling life.

What is PTAC?

PTAC is a new program implemented by the Department of Neuroscience at Yale School of Medicine to help postdocs successfully navigate a crucial and difficult career stage. PTAC provides an institutional support structure for postdocs. Through PTAC, postdocs will form a committee of 2-3 faculty members from Neuroscience, other departments at Yale, and/or other institutions/industries to receive professional advice on their research, technical skills, and career development. It is advised that postdocs meet with their PTAC mentors at least twice a year, but this time commitment can be discussed when the committee is formed. This program is not mandatory but greatly beneficial for postdocs!

How to start?

Enrollment date: Rolling basis

National Postdoc Appreciation Week

The National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) is a great opportunity to show gratitude for the hard work and dedication of the postdoctoral and ARS community in advancing scientific research. It's a time for us to come together, reflect on our achievements, and celebrate our successes. With the help of the Dept. of Neuroscience and the Kavli Institute for Neuroscience, YNPC organizes a variety of fun events each year, including a town hall meeting, a Happy Hour with YNPC-branded swag, a career panel, and even a hike in East Rock Park. These events are a great way to connect with others, share ideas, and build lasting relationships.
