Open part-time or full-time position Associate Research Scientist Project Manager, Cell Biology of Parkinson’s Disease Genes

Project Manager to coordinate a multi-PI research project on molecular and cellular mechanisms in Parkinson’s disease funded by the ASAP Collaborative Research Network (CRN), a program of the Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP) initiative being implemented through the Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF)(https://parkinsonsroadmap.org/research-network/#). See Team De Camilli, which comprise four other PIs (Shawn Ferguson, Kallol Gupta, Timothy Ryan and Karin Reinisch): at https://parkinsonsroadmap.org/research-network/pd-functional-genomics/#. The position requires scientific background, organizational, writing and communication skills. Responsibilities include coordination of activities, meetings and resources between team members, scientific reporting as well as budget oversight in cooperation with departmental business offices. Additionally, this individual will facilitate collaborative interactions with other teams within the CRN consortium of ASAP/MJFF. The successful candidate will have a PhD or other advanced terminal degree with a background in cell biology, neuroscience, or a related discipline. These responsibilities are expected to be fulfilled by a 50% non-bench researcher, and therefore suited for individuals who are interested in a part-time position and in transitioning from direct experimental science to other endeavors within science such as administrative, non-profit, publishing or commercial pharma or biotech project management. However, such position could be complemented by an additional 50% position involving bench research within the scope of the project in the lab of Pietro De Camilli at Yale University, the leader of the team. The project, at the interface between fundamental cell biology and neuroscience, seeks to advance knowledge toward the development of strategies to prevent or slow the course of Parkinson’s disease.

Requirement for the position:

  • A PhD or other advanced degree in cell biology, neuroscience or related field
  • Outstanding organizational, communication and writing skills
  • Familiarity with Excel
  • Experience with grant and budget management and progress reporting is desirable
  • Complete fluency in English writing and conversation is required.
  • Personal: self-motivation, ambition, collegiality

Interested candidates should send a cover letter describing their relevant background/skills/ experiences and motivation for this position, as well as a CV including bibliography and contact information for at least two references to Pietro De Camilli at the following e-mail address: nargip@hhmi.org
