Amy Justice awarded 2022 William S. Middleton award, the VA Biomedical Laboratory Research & Development Service’s highest honor for outstanding achievement in biomedical research

September 01, 2022

First, and on behalf of VHA and the Biomedical Laboratory Research & Development Service (BLR&D) in the Office of Research and Development, Dr. Amy Justice was recently named as a recipient of the 2022 William S. Middleton Award. This award is BLR&D’s highest honor for outstanding achievement in biomedical research.

This is in recognition of Dr. Justice’s exemplary record and service to VA and to the biomedical profession, as well as her contributions to the field of clinical epidemiology. Dr. Justice is recognized for her rigorous studies of predictors of the natural history of HIV infection, particularly in relation to diseases associated with aging. As part of this accomplishment, Dr. Justice will receive $50,000 per year for three years in research support, a cash award of $5,000, and an inscribed plaque commemorating her scientific achievements (how cool is that?).

The VA Connecticut Healthcare System will also receive a plaque honoring Dr. Justice, so we will need to think of a very prominent spot to display this wonderful achievement. Kudos to you Dr. Justice for this outstanding achievement!
