Paola Bertucci received her D.Phil. in History of Science from the University of Oxford. Her work focuses on various aspects of science and medicine in the age of Enlightenment: the involvement of the human body in electrical experiments, the material culture of science, science and secrecy. She is the author of a book on scientific culture in 18th-century Italy (Viaggio nel paese delle meraviglie. Scienza e curiosità nell’Italia del Settecento, Turin: Bollati Boringhieri, 2007) and co-editor of a volume on the history of the medical applications of electricity (Electric Bodies. Episodes in the history of medical electricity, Bologna: 2001). She has organized several museum exhibitions, including two permanent installations from the 18th-century collections of the new Galileo Museum (formerly Museum of the History of Science) in Florence, Italy:The Spectacle of Science and Science at Home. Professor Bertucci has been awarded the 2015 Clifford Prize from the American Society for Eighteenth Century Studies. In 2012 she received the Poorvu Family Award for Interdisciplinary Teaching from Yale College.

She is currently writing a book on science and the mechanical arts in 18th-century France.
