Biography

Kira Grogg received her PhD in high energy physics from the University of Wisconsin in 2011 where she worked on the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. She then went on to a postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School (MGH/HMS) where she investigated imaging patients with positron emission tomography (PET) immediately after proton therapy treatments. The goal of her research was to verify the location of the proton radiation dose. She went on to become an Instructor at MGH/HMS and completed a certificate program in Medical Physics and Instrumentation at HMS in 2019. She worked as a clinical medical physicist and researcher, becoming ABSNM certified in Nuclear Medicine Physics in 2021. She joined the Yale PET Center in 2024 as a Research Scientist.
Aside from physics, Kira also enjoys reading, crafting, and spending time with her family.
