Overview
Sameer Nagpal, MD, is an interventional cardiologist with specialized training in peripheral vascular interventions, or PVIs. PVIs are procedures used to treat peripheral artery disease or atherosclerosis by restoring blood flow to the lower extremities and eliminating numbness, pain, and the need for amputation.
Dr. Nagpal’s research has explored the use of the VASCADE closure device (VCD) system to treat severe peripheral artery disease compared to the standard treatment of manual compression. In a study published in the journal Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Dr. Nagpal and fellow researchers found that the 30-day mortality rates were similar between the two patient groups and there was no difference in minor or major complications.
He earned his medical degree from Emory University and is an assistant professor of medicine (interventional cardiology) at Yale School of Medicine.
