Cosmos

Cosmos is a centralized, HIPAA-limited dataset combining electronic health record (EHR) data from over 34,000 clinics and 1,500 hospitals in the Epic community. It supports feasibility and observational research using tools like SlicerDicer and the Cosmos Data Science Portal. Access requires completion of Epic’s Cosmos Super User Badge and Data Scientist training track. Visit Epic UserWeb and select YNHH to begin.

How to request access to Cosmos?

Yale University users with Research Basic Access and appropriate HIPAA training can request access here. YNHHS users must complete Epic’s Cosmos Super User Badge. To maintain access, Slicer-Dicer proficiency demonstration is required, including supporting peers new to Slicer Dicer or Cosmos.

Cosmos Data Science Portal. To access Cosmos Data Science platform, you must have the Cosmos Super User Badge. and complete Epic’s train tracks required for the Data Scientist Role in the Cosmos Training Grid. Epic only allows users that have completed all pre-requisites to take the course. When pre-requisites are complete requests can be submitted here.

Cosmos Training

Users seeking to take courses must have direct approval from either Jonathan Quang or Daniella Meeker. The user must also provide a COA or confirmation from Dr.Quang, Dr. Meeker or Epic to cover the fees for Epic Training.
