Vascular Biology and Therapeutics Program

An interdisciplinary program combining the strengths of Yale’s basic science and clinician faculty

The Vascular Biology and Therapeutics (VBT) Program is the first and largest interdepartmental program at Yale School of Medicine (YSM). VBT faculty are recognized as some of the best in the world, consistently making national and international scientific contributions in the field of vascular biology.

The program integrates groundbreaking discoveries in vascular biology with closely allied clinical programs in Medicine and Surgery to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disorders. The VBT program integrates 56 research laboratories, 17 primary labs housed at the Amistad Research Building, and 39 affiliated laboratories. These faculty labs are from 18 departments/divisions/sections in two schools (Medical School and Faculty Arts and Sciences).

Areas of Focus

The VBT program focuses on five broad areas of investigation:

  1. Immunobiology and Metabolism in Cardiovascular Disease
  2. Novel Mechanism of Cardiovascular Disease
  3. Human Genetics, Novel Technologies and Cardiovascular Imaging
  4. Vascular Aging and Regeneration
  5. Neurovascular Disease
