For the third consecutive year, Yale Medicine Urology, in connection with Yale New Haven Hospital, has been ranked nationally on U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals Adult Specialty” list.
The department continues to be #1 in Connecticut and this year took the #31 slot nationally, moving 10 places higher than the 2023-24 ranking.
Nearly 5,000 hospitals are surveyed for the annual listing, and Yale Medicine Urology is one of 11 specialties that contributes to Yale New Haven Hospital staying among the top-rated in the country.
“This is significant and gratifying – a true team effort,” says department Chair Isaac Y. Kim, MD, PhD, MBA. “Faculty, trainees, APPs, nurses, techs, and staff all play a role in better care for our patients. We’re not done yet, though, and will continue striving to be the destination center I know we can be.”
According to U.S. News, the ratings are based on outcomes, patient experience, care-related factors [i.e. nurse staffing numbers], and expert opinion through a physician survey. Yale Medicine Urology had “excellent” scores in several categories, including advanced technologies, prevention of outpatient procedural complications, and prevention of prolonged hospitalizations regarding prostate cancer surgery.
