Areas of Research
Yale Urology is active in basic, translational, and clinical research.
Yale Urology researchers have made many contributions to the urologic field, including Robert Weiss, MD, a physician-scientist who was the first urologist to receive an NIH Merit Award. He also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Urodynamics Society, the Keyes Medal from the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons for “outstanding contributions in the advancement of Urology,” and in 2018, he received the Pediatric Urology Medal from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Yale Urology has a diverse research program including:
• Gene signatures
• Smooth muscle physiology
• Clinical outcomes
• Health services
• Tumor biology
• Machine learning
• Drug delivery
• Urodynamics
• Clinical trials
• Tissue repository
