Grant awarded to Darryl T. Martin, Ph.D.

The 2013 Prostate Cancer Research Program "Idea Development Award - New Investigator Option" was awarded to Dr. Darryl Martin in the amount of $374,625.00. Dr. Martin received an outstanding score.

The research project is entitled "Targeting Prostate Cancer with Multifunctional Nanoparticles." The project’s specific aims are to (1) determine if Cldn-3 and Cldn-4 are expressed universally or selectively in advanced subsets of prostate diseases, (2) examine the biodistribution and pharmacokinetics of NPs encapsulating near infrared dye and functionalized with the C-CPE peptide in an in vivo metastatic prostate cancer mouse model, and (3) examine the diagnostic and therapeutic potential of the superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) NP platform in a metastatic prostate cancer mouse model.
