Speech & Swallow Center
The Speech & Swallow Center at Yale offers specialized care in the diagnosis and treatment of voice airway and swallowing disorders. We apply a comprehensive approach to adults and children of all ages with disorders of swallowing, breathing and communication including:
- Hoarseness
- Vocal Paraylysis
- Spasmodic Dysphonia
- Zenker Diverticulum
- Cancer of the larynx
- Neurological disorders of the larynx
- Subglottic Stenosis
Special services include:
- Vocal cord augmentation and thyroplasty
- Transnasal esophogoscopy
- Laser surgery of the vocal cord
- EMG
- Speech therapy
- Swallowing therapy
- Modified barium swallow
- FESS
The Speech and Swallow Center at Yale accommodates patients of all ages. Both inpatient and outpatient services are available.

We are saddened to announce that our longtime faculty member and friend, Steven Leder, PhD passed away suddenly on May 16th. Dr. Leder began his career in the Department of Surgery, Section of Otolaryngology in 1986 as an Assistant Professor and after multiple academic accomplishments was promoted to Professor in 1999.
