As an official member of the vice chair cabinet, Dr. Guzman will provide strategic and operational oversight for faculty advancement across the department—overseeing appointment and promotion processes and serving as a key advisor to the Chair to ensure alignment with Yale School of Medicine and Yale University policies. He will also oversee triennial leave, the annual performance review process, and new-hire onboarding, and will collaborate with the Interim Director of Faculty Development on special initiatives that promote faculty success and engagement at every stage of their careers.

Additionally, Dr. Guzman has been appointed to the YSM Term Appointments & Promotions (TAP) Committee, which reviews appointments and promotions to associate professor with term in all ladder tracks except the Academic Clinician Track.

As Division Chief of Vascular Surgery, a core member of the Faculty Compensation Committee, and former Interim Chief of Cardiac Surgery, Dr. Guzman brings deep institutional knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the faculty experience. We are grateful for his continued servant leadership and unwavering commitment to advancing the careers of our faculty.
