Post-Doctoral Fellowship on Binge Eating & Obesity

The Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine is seeking qualified candidates for Postdoctoral Psychology Associate positions. Postdocs will participate in treatment studies for binge eating and obesity and in diverse clinical and community studies of eating/weight disorders. Postdocs will work closely with faculty (Drs. Grilo, Masheb, & White) and other postdoctoral clinical-researchers in the Program for Obesity, Weight, and Eating Research (POWER). Current studies include, for example, RCTs testing behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, pharmacologic, and combination approaches as well as self-help and internet delivery methods for obesity, binge-eating, smoking issues in diverse settings.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in clinical or health psychology, including completion of an APPIC-approved internship, and experience in working with obese and/or eating-disordered patients including CBT and/or behavioral weight loss. Experience or interest in addictive behaviors (smoking) is also desirable. Experience with diverse assessment methods (e.g., semi-structured diagnostic interviews), good statistical skills, and good writing skills (publications) are required. Positions are supported by NIH grants and follow NIH stipend levels. Positions are full-time for one-year (with possible renewal for second year), meet requirements for psychology licensure, are tailor-made for competitive application for NIH loan repayment program, and are ideal for persons pursuing clinical-research careers. Extensive mentored opportunities exist for publication and grant-writing.
