Boulpaep Recognized for Service and Dedication to Students

1 Minute Read

Emile Boulpaep, MD, professor emeritus of and senior research scientist in cellular and molecular physiology, received the Distinguished Service Award during the Physician Associate (PA) Program’s 2025 Commencement ceremony.

The award recognized Boulpaep’s service to PA education over 27 years of teaching and his influence on generations of PA Program graduates. The award was presented to Boulpaep by Alexandria Garino, PhD, PA-C, associate dean of the PA Program, who shared the following quote from a former student:

I’ll never forget learning physiology from Dr. Emile Boulpaep. Only Dr. Boulpaep could make renal physiology feel like an epic story of perseverance and balance. We are all better clinicians, and perhaps slightly more obsessed with nephrons because of him. Dr. Boulpaep embodied the excellence and humanity that define Yale’s educational tradition, and his impact continues to echo through the work and lives of his students.
