Biography

I am a recent graduate from the University of Connecticut, where I obtained a Dual University Honors Laureate and Rowe Honors Scholar Bachelor of Science in Physiology & Neurobiology, and Molecular & Cell Biology. I began my medical journey at 15 as a patient aide at Yale-New Haven Hospital and 7 years later, I continue to provide patients with the greatest of care across the Yale-New Haven Hospital Emergency Departments. Currently serving as a Postgraduate Research Associate in the Department of Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine working under Dr. Nadia Ameen, my focus resides in elucidating Cystic Fibrosis in the intestine. Specifically, my role involves gaining a deeper understanding of the CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator), a Cl-/HCO3- channel implicated in Cystic Fibrosis. The subpopulation of CFTR high expresser cells (CHEs) are explored for new implications of intestinal physiology, inflammation, diarrheal disease, physiology, and pathophysyiology of Cystic Fibrosis. My career path is extremely driven through a deep commitment of clinical patient care and innovative research as a future physician-scientist.
