Strategic Planning Working Group Spotlight
Julia Rosenberg MD, MHS, FAAP, Assistant Professor, Pediatrics (General Pediatrics); Affiliated Faculty, Yale Institute for Global Health
What’s your role on the SPWG?
I have the honor to join the SPWG as a co-lead of Advocacy Pillar Group with Dr. Jim Doddington. Together and with close discussion with our colleagues across the department, we have the opportunity to connect the work in child health advocacy and policy that our colleagues are leading to develop a new center for child health policy and advocacy to foster interdisciplinary innovation and advocacy.
What’s one thing you’ve learned while part of the working group?
I have learned so much by working alongside colleagues in the Department and hearing about their successes. It is through hearing about the work they have accomplished so far that has helped us to think together about how we can strategically support and amplify their work.
What goals are you most excited about having included in this strategic plan?
I'm thrilled about every Goal in the Strategic Plan, but developing a Center for Child Health Policy and Advocacy that can uplift the work of our colleagues has been an exciting experience, and I'm eager to see where these new initiatives will lead.

Five Things to Know: YNHHS & YSM Alignment
Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) and Yale School of Medicine (YSM) continue to make critical strides toward our shared aspiration to become a leading academic health system. Below are five important things to know about these efforts right now:
- A single Institutional Review Board (IRB) and oversight structure now guide all human subjects research at YSM and YNHHS.
- The first two Access 365 “waves” are in progress and the full implementation timeline has been set. These efforts are aimed at creating a world-class experience for our patients and providers throughout the entire health care journey.
- YSM and YNHHS are working to differentiate our clinical offerings locally, nationally, and globally to create the greatest impact for our patients and our communities and to fuel our future growth as an academic health system.
- As part of our Aligned Clinician Enterprise (ACE) efforts, our new clinically integrated network (CIN), which is formally named Yale New Haven Health Clinical Affiliates, LLC, is gaining momentum.
- YNHHS and YSM are focusing on growing and enhancing our primary care services to better serve the needs of our patients.
You can access video replays of all the alignment town halls at https://ynhhs.yale.edu. There you’ll also find an overview of our goals and strategic priorities along with answers to questions

Box at Yale: Service being retired July 2025
To improve productivity and innovation and reduce duplicative services, ITS is phasing out Box @ Yale as an available service offering by July 2025. As part of the effort to eliminate use of the service new users to the University are no longer being provisioned with Box accounts automatically.
What are my alternative collaborative storage options?
Microsoft OneDrive, Teams, and SharePoint are recommended as robust and efficient alternatives, offering superior collaboration features with no cost to you.
You can use the Mover tool to easily transfer your Box files to Microsoft OneDrive (and later SharePoint if necessary). Use the directions from ITS here to easily grant permission to both your Box and OneDrive accounts to begin transferring your files. The files should continue to transfer in the background should your computer go to sleep.
Please contact Yale ITS with any questions, troubleshooting, or issues with your file transfers. You can connect over the phone, by chat, or schedule an in-person meeting. Start here to get in touch with ITS.
Training
If OneDrive and/or SharePoint are new to you or you need to brush up, there are 2 available trainings via LinkedIn Learning.
- SharePoint Essentials - course time 1 hour & 56 minutes
- OneDrive for Business Essential Training - course time 1 hour & 2 minutes

COVID isolation and respiratory illness updates: Campus Health
New respiratory illness guidance from the CDC
The CDC has updated their recommendations for steps individuals should follow if they develop symptoms of any respiratory infection, including COVID. The new recommendations represent a notable change in policy, as they eliminate the five-day isolation period for COVID and align recommendations for all respiratory viral illness. Those recommendations are the following:
- STAY HOME until you have been fever-free for 24 hours without fever-lowering medications AND your symptoms are improving.
- This is the period where you are most contagious.
- Staying home is also important for respiratory viral infections without fever
- Return to routine activities but take ADDITIONAL PRECAUTIONS for five days to prevent the spread of infection to others: wear a well-fitting mask, take steps to improve air flow, distance from others, and wash hands frequently.
- If fever returns or symptoms worsen, return to the stay-at-home phase.
Importantly, the new guidance does NOT apply to healthcare settings, which continue to follow existing guidance. Yale healthcare workers with respiratory symptoms should test for COVID and should remain in isolation for seven days from symptom onset if they test positive. If symptomatic but COVID negative, healthcare workers should follow the general respiratory viral guidance above.

Reminder: Faculty, staff, and students with a valid Yale ID can pick up a maximum of two free rapid antigen test kits at a time at these locations on campus during business hours.
Mpox update 2024 - Campus Health
Since the 2022 outbreak, cases in the U.S. have declined dramatically due to community activation, behavior change, and uptake of the mpox vaccine by those at risk. While not at their 2022 peak, cases now are more than double what they were last year at this time, suggesting that ongoing action and vigilance is needed. Strategic Planning
The Department has embarked on a strategic planning phase that will help create a clear, creative, and concrete strategic plan that will guide Yale Pediatrics’ next five years.
A good strategic plan will:
- Help Yale Pediatrics to continue to manifest its mission
- Attract resources and energy, including faculty, residents, students, and staff
- Support a positive work culture
- Foster agreed upon organizational values
You can keep up with updates and event information on the Pediatrics intranet, here.
