Congratulations to the following voluntary faculty who were recently promoted to associate clinical professor:
Over the past five years, the number of voluntary faculty within the Department of Internal Medicine has increased to 445 members. Led by Adam Mayerson, MD, FACE, associate chief, Community & Voluntary Faculty, this group teaches in both inpatient and outpatient settings at various sites throughout the state including Yale New Haven, Greenwich, Bridgeport, Griffin, Waterbury, St. Mary’s, Norwalk, Middlesex, and Danbury hospitals.
“Our voluntary faculty span all medical subspecialties and general internal medicine. Over the past year, members of the voluntary faculty have distinguished themselves with teaching awards, educational and clinical program development, and most importantly their passion for sharing their knowledge of clinical medicine to the next generation of medical students, physician assistant students, residents, and fellows,” said Mayerson.
In 2021, Mayerson worked with Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs, Lawrence Young, MD, and other department members to update the voluntary faculty guidelines to be more focused on clinical and educational contributions, and to better align with the newly added Clinical track for the ladder track faculty. Mayerson also compiled the benefits that are available to voluntary faculty, which, thanks to Susan Larkin, director, Office of Curriculum, Medical Education, can be found on the new voluntary faculty website.
