Overview
Gauthami Soma, MD, a pediatrician, says she always makes it a priority to be straightforward with families.
“In routine hospitalizations, I reassure families about the frequency of a certain diagnosis and the nature of the management plan,” she says. “In contrast, if I’m worried about a patient, I think it’s important to let families know I’m concerned.”
Dr. Soma says her favorite aspect of her job is working with children and providing evidence-based care in complicated and acute situations. “I believe in caring for children and their families and supporting them all through a difficult time.”
