Admissions Policies

The Yale Physician Associate Program is committed to the principles of equal opportunity in education. In accordance with Yale University nondiscrimination policy and Yale School of Medicine nondiscrimination policy, the Physician Associate Program does not discriminate in admissions against individuals on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, disability, illness, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, veteran status, national or ethnic origin, socioeconomic background, or other individual characteristics. There are no specific policies or practices that favor specific groups of applicants. Each application is reviewed and the merits are considered individually.

Policy on Advanced Placement

No advanced placement within the Physician Associate Program will be allowed for prior academic or clinical experience. Coursework in the Physician Associate Program is different from most traditional graduate programs. Due to the knowledge base each semester building on the knowledge gained from the previous semester, it is vital that all students of the Yale Physician Associate Program complete the required work in the prescribed sequence. An exception may be considered only for eligible Yale PA Online students who are in good standing if they are unable to complete degree requirements by September 30, 2026, due to extenuating circumstances, or if the Yale PA Online Program closes prior to that date.
