Overview
Lauren Ehrlich, MD, is a pediatric radiologist in the Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging. She ensures that children within her care receive minimal radiation during radiologic examinations—and maximal compassion.
“I enjoy helping to figure out what's bothering a child who might not be able to express his or her complaint in words,” says Dr. Ehrlich.
She has expertise in a variety of imaging studies, including those that don’t require radiation such as MR enterography (to examine the intestinal tract in detail) and MR urography (to examine the urinary tract in detail). In addition, she performs low-dose CT scans tailored for pediatric patients.
To reassure children, adolescents, and their families during imaging studies, she makes sure children are active participants. “I encourage them to keep me updated throughout their exam regarding their comfort level and concerns,” she says. “They can hold their parent's hand, play a game on an iPad, watch a movie, or sing a song if it will help them remain calmer. We will go as slowly as they need to ensure a positive experience.”
