YCSC Grand Rounds: Max Ritvo ‘13 & Alan B. Slifka ‘51 Program for the Medical Humanities Special Lecture

"The Art of Connection"

In this interactive talk, Francesca Rosenberg of The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) will address loneliness as a public health crisis. She will explore how engaging with art provides essential social connection, improves mental and physical health, and helps individuals find their voice. Drawing on MoMA’s decades-long programs, such as "Meet Me at MoMA" for people with dementia and their care partners, and "Prime Time" for older adults, as well as newer initiatives for teens, the session will highlight the transformative power of the arts in building social cohesion. This session will be participatory, including opportunities for conversation and reflection.

This named lecture was established in memoriam of Max Ritvo ‘13 and Alan B. Slifka ‘51, to explore the interface between the arts and child/adolescent mental health, this multidisciplinary program aims to improve the clinical experience of those affected by illness and strengthen the ability of providers to deliver compassionate care. It includes guest speaker and visiting scholar components, as well as culminating special lectures each spring.
