Yale Medical Group welcomes a new CME director

August 18, 2014

Allison Rentfro, PhD, recently joined Yale School of Medicine (YSM) as director of Continuing Medical Education.

Rentfro spent almost 18 years at University of Missouri, most recently in the position of program director. She has experience providing health care professionals with a variety of educational activities based on contemporary adult education principles and fulfilling the requirements set forth by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, said Ronald Vender, M.D., chief medical officer for Yale Medical Group. “Under her guidance we hope to not just maintain our accreditation, but to achieve commendation,” Dr. Vender said.

A graduate of Southwest Missouri State University, Rentfro completed her master’s in public administration and Ph.D. in Higher and Adult Continuing Education at University of Missouri-Columbia.

Over the past few years, Yale’s CME services have expanded enormously. The program accredits 74 regularly scheduled series, 18 joint programs, 34 live courses, and 78 online offerings, in addition to providing CME for Epic training. Yale CME has assisted course directors in developing new CME programs, and has expanded YSM’s grant application capabilities.
