Seth Powsner, M.D. ’78, rides hybrid vehicle to work

February 18, 2015

Seth Powsner, M.D. ’78, professor of psychiatry and of emergency medicine, was featured in an article in the New Haven Independent in February, for his offbeat mode of transportation. According to the Independent, Powsner commutes from his home just north of New Haven’s East Rock neighborhood to Yale-New Haven Hospital on a combination tricycle-electric vehicle called ELF. ELF, an acronym for electric, light and fun, runs on both foot power, via pedals, and a lithium-ion battery charged by solar panels and an electric outlet. The vehicle has been on the market since 2013. Powsner has been bicycling to work since 1986.
