Software (BISWeb)
The MINDS lab helps lead development of BioImage Suite Web (BISWeb). BioImage Suite is an integrated image analysis software that was developed at Yale and has been utilized by many labs since the early 2000s. Since 2017, BISWeb has transformed that original software into a point-and-click app that runs in any modern web browser without any installation necessary, yet with performance rivaling that of a locally installed software. BISWeb currently supports a range of functionality in human and animal fMRI: defacing, segmentation, registration, connectome visualization, and more. Due to the general nature of its architecture (JavaScript, C++, WebAssembly), BISWeb is now more accessible than ever and can run from virtually any browser, major operating system, and device. Importantly, this architecture is flexible—algorithms can also be used through command line tools and toolkits for external environments (currently Python and Matlab).
