Pioneer Valley Healthy Air Network

Springfield, Chicopee, and Holyoke in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts have a long history of high asthma rates. In 2018 and 2019, the region was the top “Asthma Capital” in the country, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. To better understand air quality in this region, the Pioneer Valley Health Air Network was setup.

Each circle on the map shows an air monitor located in the Pioneer Valley Healthy Air Network. The color will change based on measured air quality. You can click on each circle for more information about the monitoring site and what precautions to consider – if any. The grey moving lines show the current wind conditions.
