January 2019 – Section of Medical Education Retreat
On Saturday, January 12th, Dr. Viji Kurup, Section Chief of the Yale Anesthesiology Department’s Division of Medical Education hosted it’s bi-annual Education Retreat at The Study at Yale. Department leadership, sub-specialty educators and residents from all levels were well represented. A number of topics were discussed included the App-based learning management system CANVAS. Dr Bardia gave an update for OSCE training, Dr Harmon discussed resident survey results for the *new* board review question bank resource, TrueLearn. Dr Dan Haddad presented the research results for the Resident Burnout Study. This year’s Yale Teaching and Learning Center (Anesthesia) fellow, Dr. Caroline Al Haddadin presented her Pediatric Anesthesia Vascular Access project. Dr Deshpande talked about progress and challenges with our Point-of-Care Ultrasound training for residents – past, present and future. After a short break, Dr. Kurup introduced part I of a two-part series on, Creating a Learning Climate Workshop. The event wrapped up with a Wellness & Relaxation Session provided by Yale Health Educator, Danielle Casioppo. Thanks to Garrett Sendlewski and Christine Baer for their invaluable help in putting together this session.
