MB&B Special Seminar: Rebeccah Warmack, "The Ins and Outs of Nitrogenase: A Structural Perspective”
Dr. Rebeccah Warmack received her Ph.D. in 2019 from UCLA working in the laboratory of Dr. Steven Clarke. There, she characterized both spontaneous and enzymatically-mediated post-translational modifications and their recognition enzymes. She obtained the atomic resolution MicroED structures of amyloid-beta peptides bearing disease and damage-associated post translational modifications. Pursuing a passion for structural biology, she began a postdoc in the laboratory of Dr. Douglas Rees, applying various cryoEM methodologies to the challenging problem of the nitrogenase enzyme and charting its mechanism. This work has required the development and application of anaerobic cryoEM methods.
Outside of lab Rebeccah enjoys scuba diving, playing piano, reading sci fi, and improv.
