Hu Receives Outstanding Consultant of the Year Award from Yale Emergency Medicine Residency

Jiun-Ruey Hu, MD, MPH, was presented the award alongside Christine Gummerson, MD.

Jiun-Ruey Hu, MD, MPH, was voted as Consultant of the Year by residents and interns of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine.

"Dr. Hu is so deserving of this award because he is an excellent physician who goes above and beyond for his patients. He has exceptional bedside manners. He is incredibly thorough, level-headed, and unflappable no matter how many STEMI alerts or consults he gets in the Emergency Department." said Wendy Sun, MD, Chief Resident and Instructor of Emergency Medicine at the Yale School of Medicine. She added, “He always has a positive attitude and shows the utmost professionalism. We are so grateful to have him as a colleague."

Consultants from all specialties at Yale New Haven Hospital’s graduate medical education programs are eligible for the award. Hu was presented the award alongside Christine Gummerson, MD, a third-year resident in the Department of Neurology, at the Department of Emergency Medicine graduation ceremony on June 22, 2023.

“I am delighted that Dr. Hu has received this award. Dr. Hu is a dynamic and innovative educator. This is an outstanding milestone for his career and a testament to his commitment as a clinician-educator,” said Edward J Miller, MD, PhD, an associate professor at the Yale School of Medicine and director of the Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship Program.

Hu, a third-year fellow in the Section of Cardiovascular Medicine, was previously recognized with the 2021 Dr. Peggy Bia Award for Outstanding Clinical Teaching as selected by Yale medical students and as the 2022 Department of Internal Medicine Fellow of the Year
