Research
The research program in the Eisenstein Lab is focused on environmental factors that affect the pathogenesis of allergic diseases and autoinflammatory diseases.
The focus of the Eisenstein Lab is on the impact of metabolic and environmental factors on the cutaneous immunobiology of the skin in homeostasis and in disequilibrium. Current projects focus on two different disease states, namely how manmade products modulate the immunologic response to allergens and how metabolic factors affect the pathogenesis of hidradenitis suppurativa, a chronic and debilitating, autoinflammatory cutaneous disease. We hope to enhance our understanding of these different pathogenic states and uncover fundamental biology to ultimately improve our treatment and management of patients with allergic and inflammatory disease.
