Yale Nephrology offers four robust fellowship programs, ranging from clinical to research training, and overlaps specialties such as hospice/palliative care and critical care medicine. These programs are highlighted in a new video just released and produced by Yale School of Medicine’s (YSM) Office of Communications.
Clinically, fellows care for patients at both Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) and at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System. Basic science research training in nephrology spans the spectrum from tubule transport physiology to genetic diseases of the kidney and pathophysiology of glomerular, tubular, and vascular disorders through YSM.
“Our mission is to have the best and brightest of what the entire world has to offer. It makes for a really rich learning environment,” said Ursula Brewster, MD, professor of medicine (nephrology); and program director, Nephrology Fellowship.
“I want the fellows to be outstanding nephrologists. I want them to be great patient care advocates. And I want them to just be outstanding people,” said Randy Luciano, MD, PhD, associate professor of medicine (nephrology) and associate program director, Nephrology Fellowship.
