Reunion 2017: Class of 1957 60th Reunion note

June 20, 2017

The 60th reunion was another in the series of always successful reunions of the Class of 1957. Attending were Jack and Barbara Blechner; Harry and JoAnn Briggs; Lou and Madeline Cooper; Harold Cross; Gil Hogan and Betsy Demir; Liz and Ben Forsyth, Al and Vivian Fried and their granddaughter, Deanna; Stan and Carol Kilty; Jack Levin; Howard and Eleanor Minners; Herb Newman; Ray Phillips; Gil and Marlene Solitare; and Don Stahl and his son, Douglas.

After the alumni luncheon at Harkness on Saturday, the class moved to the Beaumont Room above the library for its traditional class meeting. The nine members of the class who had passed away since the 55th reunion were remembered. Jack Levin reported on the successful fund raising drive for the Class of 1957 Scholarship, which had already supported four medical students. Five members of the class have received a Distinguished Alumni Service Award: Howard Minners, Gil Hogan, Jack Levin, Harry Briggs, and the late Bill Kissick. Jack Blechner, Harold Cross, Howard Minners, and Ray Phillips described some aspects of their interesting professional careers, followed by Don Stahl reading his excellent essay, which was appropriately about the 55th reunion. The warm and sunny weather on Saturday evening made possible a very comfortable and successful outdoor buffet, hosted by Gil Hogan and two of his sons, at Gil's lovely property in Woodbridge.
