Biography
John M. de Figueiredo MD, ScD is an internationally known expert in clinical and cultural psychiatry and psychiatric epidemiology. A Board certified psychiatrist, he is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, Fellow of the American Psychopathological Association and American College of Epidemiology, member of Sigma Xi (The Scientific Research Society) and Overseas Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine of England. An alumnus of Johns Hopkins University, where he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science and completed a residency in psychiatry, Dr. de Figueiredo is the author and co-author of numerous articles published in peer reviewed professional journals, books and book chapters. He is a clinical supervisor of Yale Psychiatry residents and fellows, Neurology residents rotating through the Yale Department of Psychiatry and Yale medical students.
