Abstract/SynopsisA 45 site, cluster randomized controlled trial comparing standard of care (addiction treatment in specialty care settings) versus integrating care into primary care settings, including the assessment of pay-for-performance incentives (P4P). The research uses a facilitation strategy using an ECHO-like platform to teach addiction, HIV and TB care to primary care physicians and uses a Type II Hybrid Implementation Science Trial.

Abstract/SynopsisIn 2005, the Malaysian government changed its policies toward substance abuse by implementing syringe exchange programs and methadone maintenance programs. Professor Altice has been a consultant in developing and evaluating the new policies and have since begun several different studies in Malaysia at the interface of substance abuse and infectious diseases, including involvement with the Prison Ministry.
