Biography
Ed is a native of Syracuse, NY. He attended the University of Albany where he majored in Physics and Russian. After his undergraduate education, he was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps. Ed served ten years in the Marine Corps, earned the rank of Major, then attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. At Einstein he earned his MD and PhD degrees under the supervision of Steven D. Schwartz PhD in collaboration with the laboratory of Jil Tardiff MD-PhD. He completed his internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He then completed a clinical and research fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Yale School of Medicine in the Section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. He is currently an attending physician of pulmonary and critical care medicine at the West Haven VA and Yale-New Haven Hospitals. His current research focuses on the remodeling of the cardiopulmonary system with emphasis on the remodeling of the pulmonary vasculature in response to chronic hypoxia and aging and how this affects lung and right ventricular function.
